The Summer Sprint Series

Proudly presented by the Blackburn Cycling Club and aboc Cycle Coaching

This graded match sprint series runs at the Blackburn Cycling clubRob and Leah, neck and neck

velodrome over the summer of 2009-2010, with a race meeting once a month on Sunday afternoons from October to April (except January). The series is open to Senior (adult) riders and J19 juniors. Riders younger than J19 are not able to compete in this series.

The series is a graded match sprint series, if there are sufficient numbers of riders we run 3 or 4 grades on each day. Riders qualify at first with flying 200s and are then split into grades where there will be a round robin or partial round robin to determine the top four riders from each grade, who then race for the top three places.

All results and photos from the first series (2007-2008) are available here

and for 2008-2009 here

Entry fees are $10 per rider per day and it is expected that each rider will have the opportunity to have three match sprints per day plus finals. You will not be eliminated in the first round. The aim of this series is for riders to gain experience and to get as much time racing as we can squeeze into an afternoon. All riders and spectators are welcome to the post-racing free BBQ.

Prizemoney is paid as a percentage of the entry fees collected on the day and riders also compete for a daily aggregate prize and gain points towards series aggregate prizes, these prizes are yet to be determined for the 2009-2010 series.
